Big Ultrasound
>> Tuesday, March 17, 2009
The (approximately) 20-week ultrasound is known as the "big u/s" among the expectant mothers who take over the Internet on sites like BabyCenter.com. During this ultrasound, the tech and doctor (genetic specialist, in our case) measure the baby and all of its bones, and make sure everything looks OK and that the baby is growing on par with its estimated due date (EDD). This is also the time when they can usually tell the sex of the baby, if the parents are interested in that piece of information.
We were not interested in that piece of information. Sorry folks!
But the doctor said that everything looks great. The heartbeat is 150, which is right in the range it should be. And the baby is breech right now (head up, legs down), but has plenty of time to roll into position before July 28 (although if baby stays breech, then Mommy gets another two weeks off work!).
So that's the update for now. The genetic specialist said that everything looks just fine, and although I am considered a "high-risk pregnancy" because of my hypothyroidism, he doesn't see a need for me to get another ultrasound for the remainder of the pregnancy, unless my OB recommends one.
Which means we won't see anymore of Baby Pavlou until he or she arrives in person! (CRAZY!!!)

May I ask why you & Bill are not interested in finding out the gender of the child? Mind you, I'm not going to harass you over it, but there's a few women over the age of 50 who I think would have some words with that...
